Roland and Carolyn answered the call to full time missions in 1988. They lived in Mexico for 3 years leading small home cell groups, sharing in marriage ministry, heading up medical outreaches, teaching English as a door to evangleism and founded an orphange. In 1992 Roland founded Strategic Alliance Ministries. The vision is to mobilize the Body of Christ and create a network of believers through strategic alliances to promote missionary outreach resulting in world evangelism. One vehicle used is building homes for homeless people along the Mexican American border and reaching into remote Indian tribes of Mexico. Not only have we seen communities changed through better living conditions but also individual hearts transformed by Jesus.
Terremoto is also a vehicle the Lord impressed upon Roland to impart a missionary vision into the hearts of young people. Through this incredible cross cultural, bilingual youth camp several missionaries are now serving on the mission field after responding to the Lord's tug on their hearts during Terremoto. The impact of Terremoto has rippled into Mexican churches to create their own evangelism teams and even plant new churches. As a direct result of the evangelism that occurs during Terremoto we have seen multitudes of souls come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
A beautiful benefit that we have experienced through strategic alliances is the full cooperation of the Body of Christ working together in spite of obstacles of culture and language, in a heartfelt effort to reach the lost with eternal salvation.

Frank and Oralia have been members of Destiny Church in San Antonio, Texas since 1983. Since the beginning they have had a vision to reach out to the world by getting involved either through prayer, giving or going. In 1996 they began taking short-term missions trips and prayer journeys with Strategic Alliance. Their first Homes for the Homeless missions trip took place in 1999. They became full-time missionaries after Frank's retirement in 2001 assisting Roland and Carolyn Ashby. Their heart is to reach out to those who feel unloved, forgotten, and broken and bring them to Jesus and the life He has for them. They are committed to answering His call by submitting to His will.
Robin is the newest member of the Strategic Alliance staff. She joined us as a full time missionary in June of 2007. She started going to Homes for the Homeless trips in 2003 with her home church, Family Church in Houston, Texas. She heard God's call for her to go into missions on her first trip. Robin was a public school teacher in Channelview, Texas for 16 years and after several years of prayer and guidance from her home church, she joined our staff full-time. She is currently living in New Braunfels, Texas managing the Strategic Alliance office, organizing information for the trips and she is also able to lead and assist teams in building the homes.
